What is Ux Research?

 

What is UX research? To be an effective user designer, you must understand how users think and behave. This includes understanding where users get their information and how they choose to find it. Designing user interfaces for a business can be challenging but by using techniques like usability, visual memory, gaze-to-gaze, action recognition and more, a user experience designer can increase the likelihood that users will feel comfortable and even positively satisfied with the final product. This article discusses the emerging field of usability research, what it can do for your business and what its impacts are likely to be.

Research has shown that the key to success in user research is to engage early adopters. By engaging with these high-end users before they are very loyal or comfortable with your products and services, it is easier to determine what they want and what they need from your business. If you have engaged with your early adopters and listened to what they say, used what they ask for and delivered something they were most attracted to, then you've engaged with your audience. Perhaps more importantly, you have engaged with your early adopters before they become large audiences. This way, you've managed to get your user research findings in front of the people who are likely to make a difference.

What is UX research about? Research that gets what people think about your product and then looks to how they would actually use it in reality. For example, if you are designing a social media application, you might conduct some user research and go to a popular location in the city where a large number of people go to social events. You might then study the reactions of these people and use this information to refine your product strategy.

A persona is simply a digital entity, which can represent a person, an object, or even a collection of these entities. By defining a personas and various other criteria, designers can then create test cases based on real-world data and present findings to management in order to determine if improvements are needed. This methodology is often used when implementing complicated interactions or when performing a large-scale user study, and it has been successfully applied to many different scenarios throughout the field of industrial and business activity.
